Administrative Board

The administrative bodies of the Studentenwerk Thüringen include the Administrative Board and the Director. Basic decisions about the Studentenwerk are made by the administrative board.

Duties and constitution

Responsibilities

Under the terms of the Thuringian Student Union Law of 6 March 2006, the administrative board must perform the following duties:

decide upon rules and regulations
appoint a director and, if necessary, deputy director, who can be recalled with a two-thirds majority vote of the board members
decide upon a yearly budget, especially concerning the prices for housing and food, as well as fees for the use of the Studentenwerk’s facilities
hire a certified public accountant to audit the annual financial statements and management reports
review the Studentenwerk’s audited financial statements and based upon them, decide upon the relief of the managing director up to the end of the year following that fiscal year.
enact guidelines for the administration of the Studentenwerk and ensure that they are complied with by the director
decide upon the purchase, sale and cost of real estate and real estate property rights
decide whether to take out loans or to stand surety
consent to the hiring or dismissal of employees whose positions are in the salary brackets I through IV a BAT-O

The administrative board consists of:

three university presidents, who are chosen by the State University President Congress
three students, who are chosen by the Congress of Thuringian Students
one to two representatives from areas outside the universities (the appointment of these board members is carried out by the members of the board according to points 1, 2, 5 and 6)
one student each—who is chosen by the Congress of Thuringian Students—per member of the board according to point 3
the director of the State Academy
one student of the State Academy, who is chosen by the State Academy Student Committee

The director of the Studentenwerk Thüringen is Dr. Ralf Schmidt-Röh.
