How much is to be payed

The amount of the fee varies from university to university because the fee for the different semester tickets (ÖPNV=Public Transport, VMT=Transport Association of Central Thuringia, Bahn=railway) differs. The following overview shows the amount of the semester fees and their structure.

In the current summer semester 2026, the semester fees consist of the following*. An additional fee for the student council must be paid at all universities. If applicable, a one-time fee for the thoska (Thuringian university and Studierendenwerk card), the multifunctional chip card, is added at the beginning of your studies. Please refer to the website of your university to find out the amount of these fees.

* Please note: Participants in distance and continuing education programs with attendance time of less than 20 days per semester pay 60% of the basic fee set for all other students.
** Please note: At universities, the Students’ Union levies a charge towards a ‘Kulturticket’.
